In this post, we will be showing you how to use the built-in features of Access to import an Excel file into an existing table in an MS Access database.
When importing to an Excel file, it is important that the names of the columns in the Excel spreadsheet match the column names of the table in Access exactly. Any variation and the import will throw an error.
It is also very important that the top row of the Excel spreadsheet only contain the row headers and not arbitrary text.
The best way to get data into Access from Excel is using the built-in functions but these are not always sufficient. In the coming posts we will show you how to use the Excel object model to enable proper Excel automation.
